GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Mechatronics Department, under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT), is dedicated to delivering high‑quality interdisciplinary education across Mechanical Engineering, Electrical–Electronics, and Computer Engineering, including fields related to mechatronic system design, automation technologies, optimal engineering design, and the implementation and development of automated industrial production lines. The Mechatronics Department serves as the core unit responsible for managing and developing the Mechatronic Engineering Technology.

Mechatronic Engineering Technology is a combination of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, and computer engineering. It plays an extremely important role in the advancement of modern science and technology. The main goal of this interdisciplinary field is to develop strong systems thinking skills in product design and development, enabling the creation of innovative products with superior functionality. Robotics stands as one of the most prominent outcomes of mechatronic engineering.

FACULTY MEMBERS

The Mechatronics Department currently has 1 Associate Professor, 3 PhD holders, and 5 Master’s degree lecturers, all having vast experience in teaching and research. Our lecturers are continuously learning, conducting research, and updating the latest technological advancements to integrate into their teaching, constantly improving teaching methods to enhance training quality.

The department’s lecturers have carried out numerous scientific research projects at various levels and have published multiple research papers in both international and national journals.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct lectures in Mechatronics specialized courses managed by the Department.
  • Develop and refine the curriculum for the Mechatronics Engineering Technology program.
  • Provide scientific consultancy for the Faculty and the University.
  • Conduct research and innovation in teaching methodologies to enhance training quality.
  • Implement applied research projects in high-tech engineering, education, and production sectors.

MAIN RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

  • Design and fabrication of heat pump drying systems;
  • Optimization of fundamental machine components in mechanical manufacturing;
  • Optimization helps reduce size, cross-sectional area, volume, and weight of fundamental machine components, thereby minimizing material consumption and improving equipment efficiency;
  • Automated production systems applying Industry 4.0 technologies;
  • Industrial robotic systems integrated with intelligent control capabilities;
  • IoT-integrated control systems;
  • Research on improving applications and mastering technologies in agricultural production and the food industry.
