THERMAL ENGINEERING (REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING)

September 18, 2021

OVERVIEW

Major Code: 7520115

Thermal Engineering is a long-established discipline that studies the laws of energy transformation and conversion in order to improve energy efficiency. It is considered one of the core branches of engineering, focusing on the research and design of thermal machines (such as internal combustion engines and jet engines) and thermodynamic systems, (refrigeration systems, freezing systems, air conditioning systems, residential refrigeration systems, commercial refrigeration systems used in restaurants and supermarkets, drying systems, and renewable energy systems such as solar and wind energy, etc.).

Thermal Engineering plays an essential role in most production and service sectors, as well as in supporting daily life. With its wide range of applications, the Thermal Engineering field has been constantly reinventing and innovating to meet the ever‑changing demands of the market and society, becoming one of the key drivers of the nation’s economic development. Thermal Engineering has made significant contributions to the development of food processing plants, seafood and agricultural product processing factories, pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing plants, industrial factories, and high-rise buildings. In addition, it serves as a foundational discipline in the research, design, and implementation of thermal power plants, solar power systems, wind power systems, and biomass energy applications.

With its wide range of applications in both residential and industrial sectors, the demand for highly qualified Thermal Engineering professionals is significant and spans across various industries. After graduation, students can work in positions such as Research Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Management Engineer, Sales Engineer, Installation and Maintenance Engineer for thermal systems, engage in business related to thermal equipment, or even start their own ventures.

Thermal Engineering continues to reinvent and innovate itself, serving as a core technological and engineering discipline that drives the development of other industries in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).

Training Objectives

The Thermal Engineering training program is developed in line with the vision and mission of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology. The program aims to train Thermal Engineers with strong moral character and the necessary knowledge, professional skills, and appropriate attitudes to meet practical demands as well as the country’s long-term development strategies.

Knowledge

The training program is designed to equip graduates with broad vision and the ability to address big challenges through the application of the knowledge and skills acquired during the course. Students are provided with solid theoretical foundations combined with practical knowledge in the field of Thermal Engineering.

Skills
