Science and Technology Conference 2025
To promote academic exchange and the sharing of advanced research achievements in the field of science and technology, on May 21, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT), in collaboration with Vietnam Petroleum University (PVU), organized a Science and Technology Conference on the theme “Green Technology and Sustainable Production” in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
The conference brought together leading scientists, lecturers, and experts from HUIT, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Huy Hoang, Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology; Dr. Ho Thi My Nu, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le The Truyen, Head of the Department of Manufacturing Technology; Dr. Dao Thanh Liem, Head of the Department of Mechatronics; Dr. Mai Thanh Dam, Head of the Department of Thermal Engineering; and all lecturers from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology.
On behalf of the Vietnam National Energy Corporation (Petrovietnam), PVU was represented by Dr. Le Quoc Phong, Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Hung, Head of the Faculty of Basic Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Sy; Dr. Do Quang Khanh, Head of the Drilling and Oil & Gas Exploitation Department; and all lecturers of the Faculty of Basic Sciences participated in the workshop.
The workshop focused on presenting and discussing the latest research reports on green technology, magnetic field sensors, modeling and control of flexible mechanisms, software applications in fluid simulation, and many practical topics related to sustainable production and energy saving.

Associate Professor Pham Huy Hoang - Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology (HUIT) expressed his desire to further strengthen research and training cooperation activities in the future.
Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor Pham Huy Hoang - Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology (HUIT) highly appreciated the joint organization between the two units and expressed his desire to further strengthen research and training cooperation activities in the future.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Hung - Head of the Faculty of Basic Sciences (PVU): The task of researchers is to create new, environmentally friendly solutions throughout the entire production chain.
In his opening remarks at the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Hung - Head of the Faculty of Basic Sciences (PVU) emphasized the importance of technological innovation in the context of Petrovietnam's strong green transformation strategy.
“Economic development must go hand in hand with the responsibility of protecting the environment and resources for future generations. Therefore, the task of researchers is to create new, environmentally friendly solutions throughout the entire production chain,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Hung shared.
The workshop was lively with many in-depth and practical reports from scientists such as: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang (PVU) presenting on Planar Hall Magnetic Sensors (PH-MR) and their application in non-destructive testing of steel pipeline systems; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le The Truyen (HUIT) shared his research on modeling and controlling soft actuators without using curvature sensors; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuoc (HUIT) introduced a solution for applying an andon system in production management; Dr. Huynh Ngoc Thai (HUIT) presented a method for optimizing elastic amplification mechanisms using the SAW method.

Associate Professor Dr. Le The Truyen (HUIT) shared his research on modeling and controlling soft actuators without using curvature sensors.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang - Lecturer at PVU, presented a paper at the Conference.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuoc - Lecturer at HUIT, presented a paper at the conference.

Dr. Mai Thanh Dam - Lecturer at HUIT, presented a paper at the Conference.

Dr. Huynh Ngoc Thai - Lecturer at HUIT, presented a paper at the conference.
A key highlight of the Conference was the report on the research topic of designing and manufacturing a PIG device with a flexible magnetic yoke for surveying gas pipelines by a group of authors from PVU. At the Conference, on behalf of the authors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Hung introduced a PIG device applying magnetic field leakage detection (MFL) technology capable of accurately detecting defects in gas pipelines, with a flexible design suitable for various pipe sizes.

The delegates engaged in lively discussions at the workshop.
The workshop was not only an opportunity to share knowledge, but also opened up many new opportunities for cooperation in research and training between PVU and HUIT. In recent years, many lecturers from HUIT have participated in teaching and supervising theses at PVU – a clear testament to the increasingly close cooperative relationship between the two universities.
The event also received many contributions and lively discussions from delegates, further clarifying challenges and proposing practical technological solutions to promote green transformation in the mechanical and energy industries.

The "Green Technology and Sustainable Development" conference is not only an important scientific event, but also a practical step in the journey to raise awareness, research capacity, and action for a clean industry and a green Vietnam.
